- 12He told them, "You are the heads of the Levite families. Sanctify yourselves, you and your relatives, so you can bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I've prepared for it."
- 13Because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for we did not seek him in the proper way.

- 18Serving with them in the second rank were Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who served as gatekeepers.
- 19The singers Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were assigned to play bronze cymbals.
- 20Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah played harps set to the tune of Alamoth.
- 21Mattithiah, Elipheleh, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah played harps set to the Sheminith, to excel in the music.
- 22Chenaniah, the chief of the Levites, was in charge of the singing and instructed about the song because he was skillful.
- 23Berechiah and Elkanah served as gatekeepers for the ark.
- 24The priests Shebaniah, Jehoshaphat, Nethaneel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer blew trumpets in front of the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah also served as gatekeepers for the ark.

- 27David wore a robe of fine linen, as did all the Levites carrying the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music director. David also wore a linen ephod.
- 28All Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
- 29As the ark of the covenant of the LORD entered the city of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. When she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
