  4. 4Edom may say, "We've been crushed, but we'll rebuild from the ruins." But the LORD of hosts says, "Let them build — I will tear it down. People will call their land 'The Territory of Wickedness,' the nation the LORD is angry with forever."
  5. 5You will see it with your own eyes and say, 'The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.'
  6. 6A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. Yet you ask, 'How have we despised your name?'
  7. 7"You place defiled food on my altar, then ask, 'How have we defiled you?' By treating the LORD's table as something worthless."
  8. 8"When you sacrifice a blind animal, isn't that evil? When you offer one that's lame or sick, isn't that evil? Try giving a gift like that to your governor — see if he's pleased with you! See if he shows you any favor!" says the LORD of hosts.
  9. 9And now, I urge you, plead with God to be gracious to us. This has been by your means: will he show you favor? says the LORD of hosts.

  12. 12"But you dishonor it when you say, 'The LORD's table is polluted,' and treat the food offered on it as worthless."
  13. 13You also say, 'What a burden this all is!' and you sneer at it," says the LORD of hosts. "Then you bring animals that are torn, or lame, or sick as your offering. Should I accept that from your hands?" says the LORD.
  14. 14But cursed be the deceiver who has a healthy male in his flock, makes a vow, and then sacrifices a defective animal to the LORD. For I am a great King, says the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the nations.
