  1. 1The rulers of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, and nine parts to live in the other cities.
  2. 2The people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to live in Jerusalem.
  3. 3These are the leaders of the province who lived in Jerusalem. In the cities of Judah, everyone lived on their own property in their cities—Israel, the priests, the Levites, the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.
  4. 4And in Jerusalem lived some of the children of Judah and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Perez;
  5. 5also Maaseiah son of Baruch, son of Colhozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Zechariah, son of Shiloni.
  6. 6All the sons of Perez who lived in Jerusalem were four hundred sixty-eight valiant men.
  7. 7And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jesaiah.
  8. 8And after him, Gabbai, Sallai — nine hundred twenty-eight.
  9. 9And Joel son of Zichri was their overseer, and Judah son of Senuah was second over the city.
  10. 10From the priests: Jedaiah son of Joiarib, Jachin,
  11. 11Seraiah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, was the ruler of the house of God.
  12. 12And their brothers who did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty-two. And Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pelaliah, son of Amzi, son of Zechariah, son of Pashur, son of Malchiah,
  13. 13and his brothers, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty-two. And Amashai son of Azareel, son of Ahasai, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer,
  14. 14and their brothers, mighty men of valor, one hundred twenty-eight. And their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great men.
  15. 15Also from the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hashub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, son of Bunni;
  16. 16and Shabbethai and Jozabad, from the chief of the Levites, had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.
  17. 17Mattaniah, son of Micha, son of Zabdi, son of Asaph, was the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer. Bakbukiah was second among his brothers, and Abda, son of Shammua, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun.
  18. 18All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four.
  19. 19Moreover the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their brothers who kept the gates, were one hundred seventy-two.
  20. 20And the rest of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
  21. 21But the Nethinims lived in Ophel, and Ziha and Gispa were over the Nethinims.
  22. 22The overseer also of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, son of Hashabiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micha. From the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.
  23. 23For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day.
  24. 24And Pethahiah son of Meshezabeel, from the children of Zerah son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.
  25. 25And for the villages with their fields, some of the children of Judah lived at Kirjatharba and in its villages, and at Dibon and in its villages, and at Jekabzeel and in its villages,
  26. 26and at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet,
  27. 27and at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba and in its villages,
  28. 28and at Ziklag, and at Mekonah and in its villages,
  29. 29and at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth,
  30. 30Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish and its fields, at Azekah and in its villages. And they settled from Beersheba to the valley of Hinnom.
  31. 31The children of Benjamin also from Geba lived at Michmash, and Aija, and Bethel and in their villages,
  32. 32and at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,
  33. 33Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,
  34. 34Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,
  35. 35Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.
  36. 36And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.
