- 1As for you, teach what lines up with sound doctrine.
- 2Older men should be clear-headed, dignified, and self-controlled — solid in faith, in love, and in patience.
- 3Older women, too, should live in a way that honors God. They shouldn't be gossips or heavy drinkers, but instead should teach what is good.
- 4That way they can train the younger women to love their husbands and love their children,
- 5to be self-controlled, pure, devoted to their homes, kind, and obedient to their own husbands, so that the word of God is not blasphemed.
- 6In the same way, encourage the younger men to be self-controlled.
- 7In everything you do, be a living example of good works. When you teach, do it with integrity, seriousness, and sincerity.
- 8Let your words be sound and above criticism, so that anyone who opposes you may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about you.
- 9Tell servants to submit to their own masters and to do their best to please them in everything, without talking back.
- 10They shouldn't steal but should prove themselves completely trustworthy — so that in every way they make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
- 11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people.
- 12It teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldly desires and to live with self-control, righteousness, and godliness in this present age,
- 13while we wait for that blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
- 14He gave himself for us, so that he might redeem us from all wickedness and purify for himself a people of his very own, eager to do good works.
- 15Teach these things. Encourage and correct people with full authority. Don't let anyone look down on you.
