- 1Pay attention — the day of the LORD is coming! When it arrives, your plunder will be divided right in your midst.
- 2I will gather every nation against Jerusalem for battle. The city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women violated. Half the city will go into captivity, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
- 3Then the LORD will march out and fight against those nations, just as he fights on a day of battle.
- 4On that day, his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. The mountain will split in two from east to west, forming a massive valley — half the mountain shifting north and half shifting south.
- 5You will flee to the valley of the mountains, for the valley will reach to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the saints with you.
- 6On that day, there will be neither bright light nor darkness.
- 7But it will be one day which will be known to the LORD—not day, nor night. But it will come to pass that at evening time it will be light.
- 8On that day, living waters will flow out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the eastern sea and half toward the western sea. They will flow in both summer and winter.
- 9The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name will be one.
- 10The entire land from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will be flattened into a plain. But Jerusalem itself will be raised up and will remain in its place — from Benjamin's gate to the site of the first gate, all the way to the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel to the king's winepresses.
- 11People will live there, and there will be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem will be safely inhabited.
- 12This is the plague the LORD will strike against all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they're still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
- 13On that day, the LORD will throw them into a massive panic. Each man will grab his neighbor's hand, and then turn and attack him.
- 14Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the heathen around will be gathered up—gold, silver, and clothing in enormous quantities.
- 15That same plague will also strike the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and every other animal in those enemy camps.
- 16Then the survivors from every nation that attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
- 17If any family of the earth refuses to go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, no rain will fall on them.
- 18And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, that have no rain, there will be the plague with which the LORD will strike the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of Tabernacles.
- 19This will be the punishment for Egypt and for all nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
- 20On that day, even the bells on the horses will be inscribed with "HOLY TO THE LORD." The ordinary cooking pots in the LORD's house will be as sacred as the bowls used at the altar.
- 21Indeed, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD of hosts. Everyone who comes to offer sacrifices will take these pots and cook in them. On that day, there will no longer be any Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.
