Psalms 110:1–4

1The LORD said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.' 2The LORD will send the rod of your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies. 3Your people will be willing in the day of your power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning; you have the dew of your youth. 4The LORD has sworn and will not repent, 'You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.'

Good to know

Jesus used this psalm to ask how David could call the Christ “Lord” (Matthew 22:41-46), and Christians read it as speaking of Jesus. Many Jewish readers take “my lord” to mean the king the psalm was written for.
