Luke 13:10–17
10One Sabbath day, Jesus was teaching in a synagogue. 11A woman was there who had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years. She was hunched over and completely unable to stand up straight. 12When Jesus noticed her, he called her over and said, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." 13He placed his hands on her, and instantly she straightened up and began praising God. 14But the synagogue leader was furious that Jesus had healed someone on the Sabbath. He turned to the crowd and said, "There are 6 days for work. Come and get healed on one of those days — not on the Sabbath!" 15The Lord then answered him, saying, "You hypocrite! Doesn't each of you untie his ox or donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead it to get water?" 16So shouldn't this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has kept bound for 18 years, be set free from this bond on the Sabbath? 17When he said these things, all his enemies were ashamed, and all the people rejoiced over all the glorious things that were done by him.
