Luke 24:1–12
1Very early on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared, and some others went with them. 2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3They went inside, but the body of the Lord Jesus was not there. 4While they stood there, very perplexed, two men suddenly appeared beside them, dressed in shining garments. 5The women were afraid and bowed their faces to the ground. The men said to them, "Why are you looking for the living among the dead?" 6He isn't here — he has risen! Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: 7that the Son of Man had to be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise again on the third day. 8Then they remembered his words. 9They returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the others. 10The women who told the apostles were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several others who had gone with them. 11Their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe them. 12Then Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves, and he left, wondering to himself about what had happened.
