The Plague of Boils

The Plagues and the Passover · Egypt

Exodus 9:8–12

8The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from a furnace, and have Moses throw it into the air while Pharaoh watches. 9It will spread like fine dust across the entire land of Egypt, and wherever it lands, painful boils and blisters will break out on people and animals throughout the country." 10So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses threw it into the air, and painful boils and blisters erupted on people and animals alike. 11The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, as the boils were on the magicians and all the Egyptians. 12The LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had spoken to Moses.
