Andrew Brings Simon to Jesus

40One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 41He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means the Christ). 42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which means a stone).

What happened?

Andrew had heard John the Baptist point to Jesus, and he followed Jesus. He first found his brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah.” Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas,” which means Peter.
