- 1From Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
- 2May grace and peace be yours from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 3Brothers and sisters, we are bound to always thank God for you, as it is fitting, because your faith is growing exceedingly, and the love of every one of you toward each other is abounding.
- 4So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith through all the persecutions and hardships you endure.
- 5This is clear evidence of God's righteous judgment, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer.
- 6For it is a righteous thing with God to repay with trouble those who trouble you.
- 7And he will give relief to you who are suffering, and to us as well, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.
- 8In flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 9They shall be punished with eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power.
- 10This will happen on the day he comes to be glorified among his saints and marveled at by all who believed — and that includes you, because you believed the testimony we brought to you.
- 11With all this in mind, we constantly pray for you, asking that our God would make you worthy of the calling he's given you, and that he would fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith with power.
- 12We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified in you, and you in him, through the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
