  1. 1Since you have been raised with Christ, focus on the things of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand.
  2. 2Focus your desires on things above, not on things on the earth.
  3. 3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
  4. 4When Christ — who is your life — appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.
  5. 5So put to death your earthly bodily practices: sexual immorality, impurity, uncontrolled passion, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.
  6. 6Because of these things, the wrath of God is coming upon the children of disobedience.
  7. 7You also used to walk in these ways when you lived in them.
  8. 8But now you must get rid of all of it: anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene language.
  9. 9Don't lie to each other, because you've already stripped off your old self and everything it did.
  10. 10You've put on a new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of the one who created you.
  11. 11In this new life, there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, Barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free person. Christ is everything and in all.
  12. 12Since God chose you — set apart and deeply loved — clothe yourselves with heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
  13. 13Bear with each other and forgive anyone who has a grievance against another. Just as Christ forgave you, you must forgive others.
  14. 14And above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
  15. 15Let the peace of God rule in your hearts. You were also called to this peace in one body. And be thankful.
  16. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. Teach and warn one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
  17. 17Whatever you do — whether in word or action — do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
  18. 18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
  19. 19Husbands, love your wives and don't be harsh with them.
  20. 20Children, obey your parents in everything, because this pleases the Lord.
  21. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, so that they will not become discouraged.
  22. 22Servants, obey your earthly masters in all things — not with eyeservice, as those who seek to please men, but with singleness of heart, fearing God.
  23. 23Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as if you are working for the Lord and not for people.
  24. 24Remember that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ.
  25. 25Anyone who does wrong will be paid back for what they've done. God shows no favoritism.
