- 1Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God, because it was in the month of Abib that the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
- 2Sacrifice the Passover offering to the LORD your God from your flocks and herds at the place the LORD chooses as the dwelling for his name.
- 3Do not eat any bread made with yeast during this time. For 7 days, eat only unleavened bread — the bread of affliction — because you left Egypt in such a rush. This way, you'll remember the day you came out of Egypt for the rest of your life.
- 4No yeast should be found anywhere in your territory for 7 days. And none of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day should be left over until morning.
- 5You must not sacrifice the Passover offering in just any town that the LORD your God gives you.
- 6Instead, sacrifice the Passover at the place the LORD your God chooses as the dwelling for his name. Do it in the evening, as the sun goes down, at the same time of year you came out of Egypt.
- 7Roast it and eat it at the place the LORD your God chooses. Then in the morning, return to your tents.
- 8Eat unleavened bread for 6 days. On the 7th day, hold a sacred assembly for the LORD your God, and do no work that day.
- 9Count off 7 weeks for yourselves, starting from the day you first put the sickle to the standing grain.
- 10Then celebrate the Festival of Weeks before the LORD your God by bringing a freewill offering — giving generously in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you.
- 11Celebrate with joy in the LORD your God's presence — you, your sons, your daughters, your male and female servants, the Levites in your towns, the foreigners, the orphans, and the widows among you. Do this at the place the LORD your God chooses as the dwelling for his name.
- 12Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, and be careful to follow these commands.
- 13Celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles for 7 days after you've gathered the harvest from your threshing floor and your winepress.
- 14Enjoy this festival — you, your sons, your daughters, your male and female servants, along with the Levites, the foreigners, the orphans, and the widows living in your towns.
- 15Celebrate this festival for 7 days at the place the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands. Therefore, you shall surely rejoice.
- 163 times a year, every male among you must appear before the LORD your God at the place he chooses: during the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Tabernacles. No one should come before the LORD empty-handed.
- 17Each person should give what he can, based on how generously the LORD your God has blessed him.
- 18Appoint judges and officers for yourselves in all your gates that the LORD your God gives you throughout your tribes, and they must judge the people with just judgment.
- 19Never twist justice. Never show favoritism. Never accept a bribe, because a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and corrupts the words of the righteous.
- 20Follow what is altogether just, so that you may live and inherit the land the LORD your God is giving you.
- 21You shall not plant any grove of trees near the altar of the LORD your God, which you shall make.
- 22Don't set up any sacred stone either — the LORD your God hates them.
