- 1Ho, everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters! And you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
- 2Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.
- 3Open your ears and come to me. Listen, and your soul will live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the sure mercies of David.
- 4Look, I have made him a witness to the people, a leader and commander for the people.
- 5You will call a nation you do not know, and nations that do not know you will run to you because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has glorified you.
- 6Search for the LORD while he can still be found. Call on him while he is near.
- 7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
- 8"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, and your ways are nothing like my ways," declares the LORD.
- 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
- 10Rain and snow fall from the heavens and don't go back up again. Instead, they soak the earth, making it sprout and bloom, providing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.
- 11My word works the same way. When it goes out from my mouth, it won't come back empty. It will accomplish exactly what I want and succeed in the purpose I sent it for.
- 12You will leave with joy and be led out in peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
- 13Instead of thorns, fir trees will grow, and instead of briers, myrtle trees will spring up. This will be for the LORD's renown, an everlasting sign that will not be cut off.
