- 1The lot for the descendants of Joseph started from the Jordan by Jericho, to the waters of Jericho on the east, then went up through the wilderness from Jericho throughout the hill country of Bethel.
- 2It went out from Bethel to Luz, and then passed along to the border of the Archites at Ataroth.
- 3It then went down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, reaching Lower Beth Horon and Gezer, and ended at the sea.
- 4This is how the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, received their inheritance.
- 5The boundary for the children of Ephraim, according to their families, was as follows: On the east side, their border extended from Ataroth Addar to Upper Beth Horon.
- 6The border extended toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side, then curved eastward to Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah.
- 7It went down from Janohah to Ataroth and Naarath, reached Jericho, and ended at the Jordan.
- 8The border extended from Tappuah westward to the river Kanah and ended at the sea. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.
- 9And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were within the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, including all the cities with their villages.
- 10However, the Ephraimites did not drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer. So to this day, the Canaanites live among the Ephraimites and are subject to forced labor.
