- 1But in the last days, the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established at the top of the mountains and raised above the hills, and people will stream toward it.
- 2Many nations will come and say, "Let's go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob! He will teach us his ways, and we will follow his paths." For the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
- 3He will judge among many peoples and rebuke strong nations far away. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up a sword against nation, nor will they learn war anymore.
- 4Instead, everyone will sit under their own vine and fig tree, with no one to make them afraid. The LORD of hosts has spoken it.
- 5For all people will walk, each in the name of their god, but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.
- 6"In that day," says the LORD, "I will gather those who limp, bring back those who were driven out, and those I have afflicted."
- 7I will turn the broken into a remnant and the outcasts into a strong nation. The LORD will reign over them on Mount Zion from that day forward, forever."
- 8As for you, watchtower of the flock, stronghold of the daughter of Zion — your former power will return to you. The kingdom will come back to the daughter of Jerusalem.
- 9So why are you crying out? Is there no king among you? Has your counselor died? Pain has gripped you like a woman in labor.
- 10Writhe and push like a woman giving birth, daughter of Zion! You will leave the city and live out in the open fields. You will go all the way to Babylon — but there you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you from the grip of your enemies.
- 11Right now many nations have gathered against you, saying, "Let her be ruined! Let us feast our eyes on Zion's downfall!"
- 12But they don't know what the LORD is thinking. They don't understand his plan — that he has gathered them like sheaves on a threshing floor.
- 13"Rise up and thresh, daughter of Zion! I will make your horns like iron and your hooves like bronze. You will crush many peoples to pieces, and I will dedicate their plundered wealth to the LORD — their riches to the Lord of all the earth."
