- 1Then I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion. With him were 144,000 people who had his Father's name written on their foreheads.
- 2And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters and like the voice of great thunder. I also heard the voice of harpists playing their harps.
- 3They sang what seemed like a new song before the throne, and in front of the four beasts and the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
- 4These are the ones who were not defiled with women; they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among humanity as the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
- 5No deceit was found in their mouth; they are without fault before the throne of God.
- 6Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language, and people.
- 7He called out in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has arrived! Worship the one who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the springs of water!"
- 8A second angel followed, saying, 'Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen! She made all nations drink the wine of the wrath of her fornication.'
- 9A third angel followed them, crying out in a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand,
- 10that person will drink the wine of God's wrath, which is poured out undiluted into the cup of his indignation. They will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
- 11The smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no rest, day or night, for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name."
- 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
- 13Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labors, and their works will follow them."
- 14I looked, and there was a white cloud. Sitting on the cloud was someone who looked like the Son of Man, wearing a golden crown on his head and holding a sharp sickle in his hand.
- 15Another angel came out of the temple, shouting to the one sitting on the cloud, "Swing your sickle and harvest! The time to reap has come — the earth's harvest is fully ripe!"
- 16So the one sitting on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.
- 17Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too carried a sharp sickle.
- 18Still another angel — the one who has authority over fire — came from the altar. He shouted to the angel with the sharp sickle, "Swing your sharp sickle and cut the clusters of grapes from the earth's vine, because the grapes are fully ripe!"
- 19The angel swung his sickle across the earth, gathered the grapes, and hurled them into the great winepress of God's wrath.
- 20The winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood flowed out of it, rising as high as the bridles of horses and spreading for about 200 miles.
