- 1After this, I looked and saw a door opened in heaven. The first voice I heard, which sounded like a trumpet, spoke to me and said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this."
- 2Immediately, I was in the spirit, and there was a throne set in heaven with someone sitting on it.
- 3The one seated on the throne gleamed like jasper and sardius stone, and a rainbow that shone like emerald encircled the throne.
- 4And around the throne were 24 seats: and on the seats I saw 24 elders sitting, clothed in white garments; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
- 5From the throne came lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
- 6In front of the throne was a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center and around the throne were four beasts full of eyes in front and behind.
- 7The first beast was like a lion, the second beast like a calf, the third beast had a face like a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
- 8And the four beasts each had six wings around him; and they were full of eyes within: and they do not rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
- 9And whenever those beasts give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
- 10the 24 elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say,
- 11You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, because you created all things, and for your pleasure they exist and were created.
