- 1I turned and looked up, and saw four chariots coming out from between two mountains, and the mountains were made of bronze.
- 2In the first chariot were red horses, and in the second chariot were black horses.
- 3The third chariot had white horses, and the fourth had dappled and bay horses.
- 4I asked the angel who had been speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?"
- 5And the angel answered and said to me, “These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go out from standing before the Lord of all the earth.”
- 6The black horses that are there go toward the north country; the white horses follow them, and the dappled horses go toward the south country.
- 7The bay horses went out, seeking to walk back and forth through the earth. He said, 'Go, walk back and forth through the earth.' So they walked back and forth through the earth.
- 8Then he called out to me and said, "Look, those going toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country."
- 9Then the word of the LORD came to me:
- 10Take from the exiles—Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah—who have come from Babylon. On that same day, go to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
- 11Take silver and gold, and make crowns, and place them on the head of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest.
- 12Tell him, 'This is what the LORD of hosts says: There is a man whose name is The Branch. He will sprout up from where he is and build the temple of the LORD.
- 13Yes, he is the one who will build the temple of the LORD. He will bear the glory and will sit on his throne and rule. He will also be a priest on his throne, and the counsel of peace will be between them both.
- 14The crowns shall be for Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen the son of Zephaniah, as a memorial in the temple of the LORD.
- 15People from far away will come and build in the temple of the LORD, and then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
