Genesis 2:21–25

21So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While he slept, God took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22God formed the rib into a woman and brought her to the man. 23The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." 24That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and they become one flesh. 25The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

About this event

What happened?

God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man. While he slept, God took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. God made a woman from the rib and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.” He said she would be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. So a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and they become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
