2 Samuel 6:12–23
12When David heard that the LORD had blessed Obededom's household and everything he owned because of God's ark, he went and brought the ark of God up from Obededom's house into the city of David with great celebration. 13After the men carrying the LORD's ark had taken 6 steps, David sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf. 14David danced before the LORD with all his might, wearing a linen ephod. 15David and all the people of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts of joy and the sound of trumpets. 16As the ark of the LORD entered the city of David, Michal — Saul's daughter — watched from a window. She saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, and she despised him in her heart. 17They brought the LORD's ark inside and placed it in the center of the tent David had set up for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. 18When David had finished presenting the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts. 19He gave every person in the crowd—men and women alike—a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a flagon of wine. Then everyone went home. 20Then David returned to bless his household. Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet David and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the sight of the female servants of his servants, like one of the worthless men who shamelessly uncovers himself!" 21David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me over your father and his entire family to be ruler over the LORD's people, Israel. Therefore, I will play before the LORD." 22I'll humble myself even more than this. I may look foolish in my own eyes, but those servant girls you mentioned — they will honor me." 23Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no child until the day of her death.
