Matthew 22:1–14
1And Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, and said, 2"The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, but they would not come. 4So he sent more servants with this message: 'Tell the guests, "Look, the banquet is prepared! My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!"' 5But they ignored it and went their own ways, one to his farm, another to his business. 6The rest seized his servants, mistreated them spitefully, and killed them. 7The king was furious. He sent his armies to destroy those murderers and burn their city. 8Then he told his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but the people I invited didn't deserve to come. 9“Therefore, go into the highways and invite as many as you find to the wedding feast.” 10So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests. 11But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man who wasn't wearing wedding clothes. 12He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man had nothing to say. 13Then the king told his servants, 'Tie him hand and foot and throw him outside into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14For many are called, but few are chosen."
