Matthew 6:9–13

9So pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.' 10May your kingdom come. May your will be done on earth just as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

About this passage

What happened

Jesus taught his followers to pray to God as their Father in heaven. They were to ask that his name be kept holy, that his kingdom come and his will be done, and for daily bread. They were to ask for forgiveness as they forgive others, and to be kept from temptation and evil.
