Blind Bartimaeus

⁴⁶They arrived in Jericho. As Jesus was leaving the city with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road. ⁴⁷When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth passing by, he started shouting, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" ⁴⁸Many people told him to be quiet, but he only shouted louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" ⁴⁹Jesus stopped and said, "Call him over." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! Get on your feet — he's calling for you!" ⁵⁰Bartimaeus threw off his cloak, jumped to his feet, and came to Jesus. ⁵¹"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Lord, I want to receive my sight." ⁵²Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you whole." Instantly he received his sight and followed Jesus down the road.
