Luke 19:1–10
1Jesus entered Jericho and passed through it. 2There was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector and was rich. 3He wanted to see who Jesus was, but he couldn't because of the crowd, since he was short. 4So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because Jesus was going to pass that way. 5When Jesus reached the place, he looked up and said, 'Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.' 6And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully. 7When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, 'He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.' 8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Lord, I am giving half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I will repay them four times as much." 9Jesus said to him, "Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham." 10The Son of Man came to seek and to save those who are lost."
