Sending Out the Twelve

⁷He called the twelve to him and began sending them out in pairs, giving them power over unclean spirits. ⁸He told them to take nothing for the journey except a walking stick — no food, no bag, no money in their belts. ⁹They could wear sandals but not pack an extra set of clothes. ¹⁰He also told them, "When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. ¹¹“Whoever does not receive you or hear you, when you leave that place, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Truly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.” ¹²So they went out and preached that people should repent. ¹³They drove out many demons, anointed many sick people with oil, and healed them.
