The Centurion's Faith

⁵When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him with a plea. ⁶"Lord," he said, "my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering terribly." ⁷Jesus said to him, "I'll come and heal him." ⁸The centurion replied, "Lord, I don't deserve to have you come into my house. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed." ⁹For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it. ¹⁰When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. He turned to the crowd following him and said, "I tell you the truth — I haven't found faith this great anywhere in Israel." ¹¹And I tell you, many will come from the east and the west and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. ¹²But the children of the kingdom will be thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ¹³Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; as you have believed, so it will be done for you." And his servant was healed at that very hour.
