The Widow's Son at Nain

¹¹The next day, Jesus traveled to a town called Nain. A large crowd and many of his disciples went along with him. ¹²As he approached the town gate, a funeral procession was coming out. The dead man was the only son of a widow, and a large crowd from the town was with her. ¹³When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said, "Don't cry." ¹⁴Then he walked up and touched the bier, and the men carrying it stopped. He said, 'Young man, I tell you—get up!' ¹⁵The dead man sat up and began to talk! Then Jesus gave him back to his mother. ¹⁶Everyone was filled with fear, and they praised God, saying, "A great prophet has risen among us!" and "God has visited his people!" ¹⁷News about Jesus spread throughout all of Judea and the entire surrounding region.
