Paul and Barnabas Part Ways

The Council in Jerusalem · Antioch in Syria

Acts 15:36–41

36After some days, Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing." 37Barnabas was determined to take along John, who was called Mark. 38But Paul did not think it wise to take him along, since he had departed from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work. 39The disagreement became so sharp that they parted from one another. Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus, 40while Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brothers to the grace of God. 41He traveled through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
