3 accounts of this passage

Matthew 17:1–8

16 days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and James's brother John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone. 2He was transfigured before them: his face shone like the sun, and his clothes were as white as the light. 3Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared and began talking with Jesus. 4Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, let us make three tents here—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him." 6When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown on the ground, terrified. 7Jesus came over, touched them, and said, "Get up. Don't be afraid." 8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus only.

About this event

What happened?

Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain. There he was transfigured: his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Moses and Elijah appeared, talking with him. Peter said, “Lord, it is good for us to be here,” and offered to put up three shelters, one for each of them. While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!” The disciples fell facedown in terror, until Jesus touched them and said, “Get up. Do not be afraid.”
