1. 1Moreover, David and the captains of the host set apart the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun for the service of prophesying with harps, lyres, and cymbals. The number of the workmen according to their service was:
2. 2From Asaph's family: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph served under their father's direction, who prophesied according to the king's order.
3. 3From Jeduthun's family: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah — six in all. They served under their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.
4. 4From Heman's family: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
5. 5All these were the sons of Heman, the king's seer, in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6. 6All of them served under their father's direction for song in the house of the LORD with cymbals, lyres, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
7. 7Together with their relatives who were trained in the songs of the LORD, all of whom were skilled, they numbered 288.
8. 8They cast lots, ward against ward, both the small and the great, the teacher and the scholar.
9. 9The 1st lot fell to Joseph of Asaph's family. The 2nd went to Gedaliah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
10. 10The 3rd went to Zaccur, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
11. 11The 4th went to Izri, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
12. 12The 5th went to Nethaniah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
13. 13The 6th went to Bukkiah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
14. 14The 7th went to Jesharelah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
15. 15The 8th went to Jeshaiah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
16. 16The 9th went to Mattaniah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
17. 17The 10th went to Shimei, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
18. 18The 11th went to Azareel, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
19. 19The 12th went to Hashabiah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
20. 20The 13th went to Shubael, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
21. 21The 14th went to Mattithiah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
22. 22The 15th went to Jeremoth, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
23. 23The 16th went to Hananiah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
24. 24The 17th went to Joshbekashah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
25. 25The 18th went to Hanani, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
26. 26The 19th went to Mallothi, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
27. 27The 20th went to Eliathah, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
28. 28The 21st went to Hothir, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
29. 29The 22nd went to Giddalti, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
30. 30The 23rd went to Mahazioth, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
31. 31The 24th went to Romamtiezer, along with his sons and brothers — 12 in all.
