- 1This is why I, Paul, am now a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus — because of my work among you Gentiles.
- 2Surely you have heard about the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you.
- 3He revealed his mystery to me directly, as I briefly mentioned earlier in this letter.
- 4When you read this, you will understand my knowledge of the mystery of Christ.
- 5In previous generations, this was not made known to people as it is now revealed to God's holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
- 6This mystery is that through the gospel, the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ.
- 7God made me a servant of this gospel as a gift of his grace, working through me with his power.
- 8To me, who is less than the least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
- 9and to make everyone see what the fellowship of the mystery is. Since the beginning of the world, this mystery has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ.
- 10The purpose was that now, through the church, the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places might come to know the many-sided wisdom of God.
- 11According to the eternal purpose that he established in Christ Jesus our Lord:
- 12In him we have boldness, and access with confidence, through the faith of him.
- 13So I'm asking you not to lose heart because of the suffering I'm going through for your sake, which is your glory.
- 14For this reason, I kneel before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
- 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth gets its name.
- 16I pray that out of the riches of his glory, he would strengthen you with power through his Spirit deep in your inner being,
- 17so that Christ would make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you would be deeply rooted and firmly grounded in love,
- 18so that you, together with all of God's people, would have the strength to grasp how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love truly is —
- 19to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
- 20Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us —
- 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through every generation, forever and ever. Amen.
