- 1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 2"Tell the people of Israel to bring me an offering. Accept my offering from everyone who gives it freely from the heart.
- 3Here is what you should collect from them: gold, silver, bronze,
- 4blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, fine linen, goats' hair,
- 5rams' skins dyed red, badgers' skins, and acacia wood,
- 6oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense,
- 7onyx stones, and gemstones to be set into the ephod and the breastplate.
- 8Have them build me a sanctuary so that I can live among them.
- 9Make it exactly as I show you, following the pattern of the tabernacle and all its instruments.
- 10"They are to build an ark out of acacia wood, 2 and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half tall.
- 11Cover it with pure gold inside and out, and put a gold molding all the way around it.
- 12Cast 4 gold rings and attach them to its 4 feet — 2 rings on one side and 2 on the other.
- 13Make carrying poles out of acacia wood and cover them with gold.
- 14Slide the poles through the rings on the sides of the ark so it can be carried.
- 15The poles must stay in the rings permanently — never remove them.
- 16And you shall place into the ark the testimony that I will give you.
- 17Make a mercy seat out of pure gold, 2 and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.
- 18Make 2 cherubim out of hammered gold, one at each end of the mercy seat.
- 19Place one cherub at one end and the other cherub at the opposite end. The cherubim must be formed as one piece with the mercy seat itself.
- 20The cherubim are to spread their wings upward, sheltering the mercy seat with their wings. They must face each other, looking down toward the mercy seat.
- 21Place the mercy seat on top of the ark, and inside the ark, put the testimony that I will give you.
- 22There I will meet with you and commune with you from above the mercy seat, between the two cherubim on the ark of the testimony, concerning all the commands I will give you for the children of Israel.
- 23"Make a table out of acacia wood, 2 cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half tall.
- 24Cover it with pure gold and put a gold molding all the way around it.
- 25Add a rim around it about a hand's width across, with a gold molding along the edge of the rim.
- 26Make 4 gold rings and attach them to the 4 corners at its 4 feet.
- 27The rings should be close to the rim, to hold the carrying poles for the table.
- 28Make the poles out of acacia wood and cover them with gold, so the table can be carried.
- 29"You shall make its dishes, its spoons, its covers, and its bowls, with which to cover; you shall make them of pure gold."
- 30And you shall place the shewbread on the table before me always.
- 31"You shall make a candlestick of pure gold. The candlestick shall be made of hammered work; its shaft, its branches, its bowls, its knobs, and its flowers shall be of the same."
- 326 branches are to extend from its sides — 3 branches on one side and 3 on the other.
- 33Each branch should have 3 cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with a bud and a flower. All 6 branches must follow this same pattern.
- 34The central shaft of the lampstand should have 4 cups shaped like almond blossoms, with their buds and flowers.
- 35Where each pair of branches extends from the shaft, place a bud beneath them — one bud under the first pair, one under the second, and one under the third, for all 6 branches.
- 36The buds and branches must all be one piece with the lampstand, the whole thing hammered from a single piece of pure gold.
- 37Make 7 lamps for it and set them up so they light the area in front of the lampstand.
- 38Its wick trimmers and trays must also be made of pure gold.
- 39Use a full talent of pure gold to make the lampstand and all of its accessories.
- 40Make sure you build everything exactly according to the pattern I showed you on the mountain."
