- 1The LORD said to Moses,
- 2Look, I have called Bezaleel by name, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah.
- 3I have filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and skill in all kinds of craftsmanship.
- 4To create skillful works, to work with gold, silver, and bronze,
- 5He can cut and set stones, carve wood, and master every type of skilled work.
- 6I have also appointed Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach from the tribe of Dan, to work alongside him. Moreover, I have placed wisdom in the hearts of all who are wise-hearted, so they can make everything I have commanded you.
- 7the tabernacle of the congregation, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat on top of it, and all the furnishings of the tabernacle,
- 8the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories, and the altar of incense,
- 9the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin with its stand,
- 10the service garments, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear when they minister as priests,
- 11the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the holy place. They must make all of this exactly as I have commanded you."
- 12Then the LORD said to Moses,
- 13"Tell the people of Israel: 'You must keep my Sabbaths, because the Sabbath is a sign between me and you throughout every generation. It marks you as mine, so you will know that I am the LORD who sets you apart as holy.
- 14Keep the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who defiles it must be put to death. Whoever does any work on that day — that soul will be cut off from the community.
- 15Six days you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the LORD. Anyone who works on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
- 16The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath, observing it through every generation as a permanent covenant.
- 17It is a sign between me and the people of Israel forever, because in 6 days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the 7th day he rested and was refreshed.'"
- 18When God finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the 2 tablets of the testimony — stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God.
