  1. 1Then the man led me out into the outer court, heading north. He brought me to the block of rooms that faced the restricted area and the building to the north.
  2. 2Before the length of 100 cubits was the north door, and the width was 50 cubits.
  3. 3Across from the 20-cubit space belonging to the inner court, and across from the pavement of the outer court, the building had galleries facing each other on 3 levels.
  4. 4In front of the rooms was an inner walkway ten cubits wide, with a path one cubit wide. The doors of the rooms faced north.
  5. 5The upper rooms were narrower than the others, because the galleries on the upper level took up more space than those on the lower and middle levels.
  6. 6The building was 3 stories high, but unlike the courts, it had no supporting pillars. So each successive floor was set back farther than the one below it.
  7. 7An outer wall ran alongside the rooms, facing the outer court in front of the rooms. It was 50 cubits long.
  8. 8The row of rooms along the outer court was 50 cubits long, while the row facing the temple was 100 cubits long.
  9. 9Below these rooms, on the east side, there was an entrance for those coming in from the outer court.
  10. 10The rooms were in the thick wall of the court toward the east, facing the restricted area and the building.
  11. 11The walkway in front of these rooms looked just like the one by the northern rooms. They had the same length and width, the same layout, and the same style of doors.
  12. 12According to the doors of the rooms that faced south, there was a door at the head of the way, the way directly in front of the wall toward the east, as one enters them.
  13. 13Then he said to me, "The north rooms and the south rooms, which are in front of the separate place, are holy rooms. There the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy things. There they will lay the most holy things—the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering—for the place is holy."
  14. 14When the priests enter there, they must not go out of the holy place into the outer court, but there they must leave the garments in which they serve, for those garments are holy. They must put on other garments, and approach the things that are for the people.
  15. 15When he had finished measuring the inner house, he led me out toward the gate facing east and measured all around it.
  16. 16He measured the east side with his measuring reed: 500 reeds from end to end.
  17. 17He measured the north side: 500 reeds with the measuring reed.
  18. 18He measured the south side: 500 reeds with the measuring reed.
  19. 19Then he turned to the west side and measured it: 500 reeds with the measuring reed.
  20. 20He measured it by the four sides. It had a wall all around, 500 reeds long and 500 wide, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the common place.
