  1. 1These are the names of the tribes. From the northern end, along the road to Hethlon, as one goes to Hamath, to Hazar Enan, the border of Damascus northward, to the edge of Hamath; a portion for Dan stretches east and west.
  2. 2Next to Dan's border, stretching from east to west, Asher receives one portion.
  3. 3Next to Asher's border, stretching from east to west, Naphtali receives one portion.
  4. 4Next to Naphtali's border, stretching from east to west, Manasseh receives one portion.
  5. 5Next to Manasseh's border, stretching from east to west, Ephraim receives one portion.
  6. 6Next to Ephraim's border, stretching from east to west, Reuben receives one portion.
  7. 7Next to Reuben's border, stretching from east to west, Judah receives one portion.
  8. 8Next to Judah's border, stretching from east to west, you must set apart an offering 25,000 reeds wide and as long as any other portion from east to west. The sanctuary will be in the middle of it.
  9. 9The portion you set apart for the LORD must be 25,000 reeds long and 10,000 reeds wide.
  10. 10This sacred portion belongs to the priests. It measures 25,000 reeds on the north side, 10,000 reeds on the west, 10,000 reeds on the east, and 25,000 reeds on the south. The sanctuary of the LORD will stand right in the middle of it.
  11. 11This land is for the priests who are sanctified, descendants of Zadok, who kept my charge and did not go astray when the children of Israel and the Levites went astray.
  12. 12And this offering of the land that is given shall be for them as most holy, by the border of the Levites.
  13. 13Alongside the priests' territory, the Levites will receive a strip 25,000 reeds long and 10,000 reeds wide — the full length being 25,000 and the full width 10,000.
  14. 14They must not sell, trade, or transfer the firstfruits of the land, because it is holy to the LORD.
  15. 15The remaining strip, 5,000 reeds wide alongside the 25,000-reed section, is for common use — for the city itself, for homes, and for open pastureland. The city will sit in the center of it.
  16. 16Here are the city's dimensions: the north side will be 4,500 reeds, the south side 4,500 reeds, the east side 4,500 reeds, and the west side 4,500 reeds.
  17. 17The suburbs of the city will extend 250 to the north, 250 to the south, 250 to the east, and 250 to the west.
  18. 18The remaining land alongside the sacred portion — 10,000 reeds to the east and 10,000 to the west — will produce food for the workers who serve the city.
  19. 19And those who serve the city will come from all the tribes of Israel.
  20. 20The entire sacred offering, including the city's land, will form a square measuring 25,000 by 25,000 reeds. You are to set apart this holy portion along with the property belonging to the city.
  21. 21The remaining land will belong to the prince, on one side and on the other of the holy offering and of the city property, extending along the 25,000 of the offering toward the east border, and westward along the 25,000 toward the west border, along the portions for the prince. And it will be the holy offering, and the sanctuary of the house will be in the middle of it.
  22. 22Moreover, the land that is in the midst of the prince's territory, which includes the possession of the Levites and the possession of the city, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
  23. 23As for the remaining tribes, from the east side to the west side, Benjamin will have a portion.
  24. 24Next to Benjamin's border, stretching from east to west, Simeon receives one portion.
  25. 25Next to Simeon's border, stretching from east to west, Issachar receives one portion.
  26. 26Next to Issachar's border, stretching from east to west, Zebulun receives one portion.
  27. 27Next to Zebulun's border, stretching from east to west, Gad receives one portion.
  28. 28And by the border of Gad, on the south side going southward, the border will extend from Tamar to the waters of strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the Great Sea.
  29. 29"This is the land you are to divide by lot among the tribes of Israel as their inheritance, and these are their portions," declares the Lord GOD.
  30. 30Here are the exits of the city: the north side measures 4,500 reeds.
  31. 31The city gates will be named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be 3 gates: the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
  32. 32The east side measures 4,500 reeds and has 3 gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan.
  33. 33The south side measures 4,500 reeds and has 3 gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun.
  34. 34The west side measures 4,500 reeds and has 3 gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali.
  35. 35The total distance around the city will be 18,000 reeds. And from that day forward, the name of the city will be: The LORD Is There.
