- 1LORD, you are my God. I will exalt you and praise your name because you have done wonderful things. Your plans from long ago are faithful and true.
- 2You have turned a city into a pile of rubble, a fortified city into ruins. The foreigners' palace is a city no more — it will never be rebuilt.
- 3Therefore, the strong people will glorify you, and the city of the terrible nations will fear you.
- 4For you have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the ruthless is as a storm against the wall.
- 5You will bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the ruthless will be brought low.
- 6On this mountain, the LORD of hosts will prepare a feast for all people—a banquet of rich food, a feast of aged wines, rich food full of marrow, and well-refined wines.
- 7On this mountain, he will destroy the face of the shroud that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over every nation.
- 8He will swallow up death in victory; the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from every face. He will remove the rebuke of his people from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken it.
- 9On that day, it will be said, 'Look, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him, and we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.'
- 10The LORD's hand will rest on this mountain, and Moab will be trampled down like straw trodden down for a manure pile.
- 11He will spread out his hands in the midst of them, like a swimmer spreads his hands to swim, and he will bring down their pride along with the spoils of their hands.
- 12He will tear down your high, fortified walls, bring them crashing to the ground, and reduce them to dust.
