  1. 1Bel bows down, Nebo stoops. Their idols are on the beasts and cattle; your carriages are heavily loaded, a burden to the weary animals.
  2. 2They stoop and bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but they themselves have gone into captivity.
  3. 3Listen to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from the belly, who have been carried from the womb.
  4. 4Even to your old age, I am he; and even when your hair turns gray, I will carry you. I have made you, and I will bear you; I will carry you and will deliver you.
  5. 5To whom will you liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike?
  6. 6Some people pour gold from a bag and weigh out silver on a scale. They hire a goldsmith, and he shapes it into a god — then they bow down and worship it.
  7. 7They lift it onto their shoulders and carry it, then set it in its place, where it stands. It cannot move from that place. Someone may cry out to it for help, but it does not answer or save them from their trouble.
  8. 8Remember this, and show yourselves as men: bring it again to mind, O you transgressors.
  9. 9Remember what I did long ago, because I am God and there is no other. I am God, and there is no one like me.
  10. 10I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times I announce things that have not yet happened, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.
  11. 11I call a bird of prey from the east, the man who carries out my counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.
  12. 12Listen to me, you stouthearted, who are far from righteousness:
  13. 13I am bringing my righteousness close; it is not far away. My salvation will not be delayed. I will place salvation in Zion for Israel, my glory.
