  1. 1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
  2. 2This is the law for the leper on the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest.
  3. 3The priest must go out of the camp, and the priest must look. If the plague of leprosy has healed in the leper,
  4. 4the priest will order that two live, clean birds be brought, along with cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.
  5. 5The priest will have one of the birds killed over a clay pot filled with fresh running water.
  6. 6As for the living bird, he shall take it, along with the cedar wood, the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water.
  7. 7He shall sprinkle the one being cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.
  8. 8The person being cleansed must wash their clothes, shave off all their hair, and bathe in water. After that they will be clean and may return to the camp, but they must stay outside their tent for 7 days.
  9. 9On the 7th day, they must shave off all their hair — their head, their beard, their eyebrows, every bit of hair on their body. They must wash their clothes and bathe in water. Then they will be clean.
  10. 10On the 8th day, they must bring 2 male lambs without any defect, one year-old female lamb without defect, 3 tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and one log of oil.
  11. 11The priest performing the cleansing will present the person and all these items before the LORD at the entrance to the Tabernacle.
  12. 12The priest will take one of the male lambs and offer it as a guilt offering, along with the log of oil, and wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.
  13. 13He will slaughter the lamb in the holy place where sin offerings and burnt offerings are killed. Like the sin offering, the guilt offering belongs to the priest — it is most holy.
  14. 14The priest will take some of the blood from the guilt offering and put it on the tip of the right ear of the person being cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot.
  15. 15Then the priest will take some of the log of oil and pour it into the palm of his own left hand.
  16. 16He will dip his right finger into the oil in his left hand and sprinkle some of it 7 times before the LORD.
  17. 17From the oil remaining in his hand, the priest will put some on the tip of the right ear of the person being cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot — right on top of the blood from the guilt offering.
  18. 18Whatever oil is left in the priest's hand, he will pour on the head of the person being cleansed. In this way the priest will make atonement for them before the LORD.
  19. 19Next, the priest will offer the sin offering and make atonement for the person being cleansed from their uncleanness. After that, he will slaughter the burnt offering.
  20. 20The priest will offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar. Through this the priest will make atonement for the person, and they will be clean.
  21. 21"If the person is poor and can't afford all of this, they may bring one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved for their atonement, along with one tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and a log of oil,
  22. 22plus 2 turtledoves or 2 young pigeons — whatever they can afford. One will serve as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
  23. 23On the 8th day, they must bring these to the priest at the entrance to the Tabernacle, before the LORD.
  24. 24The priest will take the lamb for the guilt offering and the log of oil and wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.
  25. 25He will slaughter the guilt offering lamb. Then the priest will take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of the person being cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot.
  26. 26The priest will pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand.
  27. 27With his right finger, the priest will sprinkle some of the oil from his left hand 7 times before the LORD.
  28. 28Then the priest will put some of the oil from his hand on the tip of the right ear of the person being cleansed, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot — on the same spots where the blood of the guilt offering was placed.
  29. 29Whatever oil remains in the priest's hand, he will put on the head of the person being cleansed, to make atonement for them before the LORD.
  30. 30Then he will offer one of the turtledoves or young pigeons — whichever the person could afford —
  31. 31one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, along with the grain offering. In this way the priest will make atonement before the LORD for the person being cleansed."
  32. 32This is the procedure for anyone with a skin disease who cannot afford the full offerings required for their cleansing.
  33. 33The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron and said,
  34. 34When you come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you as a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house in the land of your possession,
  35. 35the owner of the house must go to the priest and report, 'There seems to be some kind of contamination in my house.'
  36. 36Before the priest goes in to examine the contamination, he will order the house emptied so that nothing inside becomes unclean. After that, the priest will go in to inspect the house.
  37. 37He will examine the contamination. If there are greenish or reddish streaks in the walls that appear to go deeper than the surface,
  38. 38the priest will leave the house, go to the doorway, and quarantine the house for 7 days.
  39. 39On the 7th day, the priest will return and inspect it again. If the contamination has spread in the walls,
  40. 40the priest will order the infected stones removed and thrown into an unclean area outside the city.
  41. 41He will have the entire interior of the house scraped, and all the scraped-off plaster must be dumped in an unclean area outside the city.
  42. 42New stones will be put in place of the old ones, and the house will be replastered with fresh mortar.
  43. 43"If the contamination comes back and breaks out in the house after the stones have been removed, the walls scraped, and the house replastered,
  44. 44the priest must come and inspect it. If the plague has spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house. The house is unclean.
  45. 45The house must be torn down — its stones, its timber, and all its plaster — and everything must be hauled to an unclean area outside the city.
  46. 46"Anyone who enters the house while it is quarantined will be unclean until evening.
  47. 47Anyone who sleeps in the house must wash their clothes. Anyone who eats in the house must wash their clothes.
  48. 48But if the priest comes in and looks, and sees that the plague has not spread in the house after the house was plastered, then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.
  49. 49To purify the house, he will take 2 birds, cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.
  50. 50He will kill one of the birds over a clay pot filled with fresh running water.
  51. 51Then he will take the cedar wood, the hyssop, the scarlet, and the living bird, dip them in the blood of the slain bird and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.
  52. 52He will purify the house using the bird's blood, the running water, the living bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet yarn.
  53. 53Then he will release the living bird outside the city into the open field. In this way he will make atonement for the house, and it will be clean."
  54. 54This is the law for every kind of plague of leprosy and scaly infection,
  55. 55for mildew in clothing and in houses,
  56. 56and for swellings, rashes, and shiny spots on the skin —
  57. 57to determine when it is unclean and when it is clean: this is the law of leprosy.
