- 1The angel who had been speaking with me returned and woke me up, like a man awakened from sleep.
- 2He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a lampstand made entirely of gold. It has a bowl on top, with seven lamps on it, and seven pipes to the seven lamps."
- 3There are also 2 olive trees beside it — one on the right side of the bowl and one on the left."
- 4I turned to the angel who had been speaking with me and asked, "What are these, my lord?"
- 5The angel replied, "You don't know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord."
- 6Then he told me, "This is the LORD's message to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.
- 7Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain, and he will bring out the headstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace to it!'
- 8Then the word of the LORD came to me:
- 9"Zerubbabel's own hands laid the foundation of this temple, and his own hands will finish it. When that happens, you will know that the LORD of hosts sent me to you.
- 10For who has despised the day of small things? They will rejoice and see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which move to and fro throughout the whole earth.
- 11Then I asked the angel, "What are the 2 olive trees standing on the right and left sides of the lampstand?"
- 12And I answered again and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?”
- 13He answered, "Do you not know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord."
- 14He said, "These are the two anointed ones who stand by the LORD of the whole earth."
