The Servant's Ear

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared, led by Judas, one of the twelve. He approached Jesus to kiss him. ⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?" ⁴⁹When those around him saw what was about to happen, they asked, "Lord, should we strike with the sword?" ⁵⁰One of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. ⁵¹Jesus answered, “Allow this much.” Then he touched his ear and healed him. ⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, the captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a thief?" ⁵³Every day I was with you in the temple, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
