The Transfiguration

¹6 days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and James's brother John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone. ²He was transfigured before them: his face shone like the sun, and his clothes were as white as the light. ³Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared and began talking with Jesus. ⁴Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, let us make three tents here—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” ⁵While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him." ⁶When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown on the ground, terrified. ⁷Jesus came over, touched them, and said, "Get up. Don't be afraid." ⁸When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus only. ⁹As they came down from the mountain, Jesus instructed them, saying, "Don't tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
