- 1It is commonly reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even named among the Gentiles: a man has his father's wife.
- 2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, so that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you.
- 3Even though I'm not there with you physically, I am with you in spirit. And I have already passed judgment on the man who did this, as if I were standing right there.
- 4When you gather together in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ — with my spirit present among you and the power of our Lord Jesus Christ —
- 5hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord Jesus.
- 6Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?
- 7Get rid of the old yeast so you can be a fresh batch of dough, as you are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed for us.
- 8So let's celebrate the feast — not with the old yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
- 9In my earlier letter, I told you not to associate with sexually immoral people.
- 10I didn't mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy, or swindlers, or idol worshipers; for then you would have to leave the world entirely.
- 11But now I have written to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother if he is a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; do not even eat with such a person.
- 12For what do I have to do with judging those who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?
- 13God judges those who are outside. Therefore, remove that wicked person from among you.
