  1. 1Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread freely and be glorified, just as it is with you.
  2. 2Also pray that we may be rescued from unreasonable and wicked people, because not everyone has faith.
  3. 3But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and keep you from evil.
  4. 4We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing — and will keep doing — everything we've instructed you to do.
  5. 5May the Lord guide your hearts into the love of God and into the patient waiting for Christ.
  6. 6Now we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: stay away from any believer who lives an undisciplined life and refuses to follow the teaching they received from us.
  7. 7You already know you should follow our example. When we were with you, we didn't live undisciplined lives.
  8. 8We never ate anyone's food without paying for it. Instead, we worked hard day and night, wearing ourselves out so we wouldn't be a burden to any of you.
  9. 9Not because we do not have power, but to set an example for you to follow.
  10. 10Even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If someone refuses to work, don't let them eat."
  11. 11We say this because we hear that some among you are living undisciplined lives. They aren't doing any work at all — they're just meddling in everyone else's business.
  12. 12To those people, we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ: settle down, do your own work, and earn your own food.
  13. 13As for the rest of you, brothers and sisters, don't get tired of doing what is right.
  14. 14If anyone does not obey our word by this letter, take note of that person and have no company with him, so that he may be ashamed.
  15. 15But don't treat them like an enemy. Warn them as you would a brother.
  16. 16Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with all of you.
  17. 17I, Paul, am writing this greeting with my own hand. This is my signature mark in every letter — this is how I write.
  18. 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.
