  1. 1If you see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray, do not ignore them; you must certainly bring them back to your brother.
  2. 2If the owner doesn't live nearby, or you don't know who the owner is, take the animal home with you and keep it until the owner comes looking for it. Then give it back.
  3. 3Do the same with a donkey, a piece of clothing, or anything else that someone has lost and you've found. You must not ignore it.
  4. 4If you see your brother's donkey or ox fallen on the road, do not ignore them. You must help him lift them up again.
  5. 5A woman must not wear men's clothing, and a man must not wear women's clothing. Anyone who does this is an abomination to the LORD your God.
  6. 6If you come across a bird's nest along the road — whether in a tree or on the ground — and the mother bird is sitting on her young or on her eggs, don't take the mother along with the young.
  7. 7You must let the mother bird go, but you may take the young for yourself. If you do this, things will go well for you and you'll live a long life.
  8. 8When you build a new house, put a railing around the edge of your roof. That way, if someone falls off, you won't be guilty of their blood.
  9. 9Don't plant two different kinds of seed in your vineyard. If you do, the entire harvest — both the crops and the grapes — will be considered defiled.
  10. 10Don't plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together.
  11. 11Don't wear clothing made from a blend of wool and linen woven together.
  12. 12You shall make fringes on the four corners of the garment you wear.
  13. 13Suppose a man marries a woman, sleeps with her, and then turns against her.
  14. 14He brings charges against her and gives her an evil name, saying, 'I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found she was not a virgin.'
  15. 15In that case, the young woman's father and mother must bring proof of her virginity to the city elders at the town gate.
  16. 16The father will say to the elders, "I gave my daughter to this man in marriage, and now he has turned against her."
  17. 17"He has publicly accused her, saying, 'I found that your daughter was not a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity." Then they will spread the cloth before the city elders.
  18. 18The elders of that city must then take the husband and punish him.
  19. 19They must fine him 100 shekels of silver and give the money to the young woman's father, because the husband publicly shamed a virgin of Israel. She will remain his wife, and he can never divorce her as long as he lives.
  20. 20However, if the accusation turns out to be true and no proof of the young woman's virginity can be found,
  21. 21Then they must bring the young woman out to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city must stone her with stones until she dies, because she has committed folly in Israel by acting as a prostitute in her father’s house. So you must put evil away from among you.
  22. 22If a man is caught sleeping with another man's wife, both of them must die — the man and the woman. You must purge this evil from Israel.
  23. 23If a young woman who is a virgin and engaged to be married is found in the city by another man, and he sleeps with her,
  24. 24you must bring both of them to the gate of that city and stone them to death — the young woman because she didn't cry out for help even though she was in the city, and the man because he humbled his neighbor's wife. You must purge this evil from among you.
  25. 25But if a man encounters an engaged young woman out in the open countryside and forces her and sleeps with her, only the man must die.
  26. 26Don't do anything to the young woman — she has committed no sin deserving death. This situation is like someone being attacked and murdered by another person.
  27. 27He found her in the field, and the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to save her.
  28. 28If a man encounters a young woman who is a virgin and not engaged, and he grabs her and sleeps with her, and they are discovered,
  29. 29the man who slept with her must pay the young woman's father 50 shekels of silver. She will become his wife because he humbled her, and he can never divorce her as long as he lives.
  30. 30A man shall not marry his father's wife, nor uncover his father's skirt.
