1. 1These are the people of the province who returned from captivity, those whom King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had taken to Babylon. They came back to Jerusalem and Judah, each to their own city.
2. 2They came back with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mizpar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. Here is the count of the men of Israel:
3. 3Descendants of Parosh: 2,172.
4. 4The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
5. 5The children of Arah, seven hundred seventy and five.
6. 6The descendants of Pahathmoab, from the children of Jeshua and Joab, were 2,812.
7. 7The children of Elam, one thousand two hundred fifty and four.
8. 8The children of Zattu, nine hundred forty and five.

57. 57The descendants of Shephatiah, Hattil, Pochereth of Zebaim, and Ami.
58. 58All the Nethinims and the children of Solomon's servants were three hundred ninety-two.
59. 59The following people came from the towns of Telmelah, Telharsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they couldn't prove that their families were descended from Israel:
60. 60The descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda: 652.
61. 61And among the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name:
62. 62They searched for their names in the genealogical records but couldn't find them. Because of this, they were considered as polluted and removed from the priesthood.
63. 63And the Tirshatha told them they must not eat any of the most holy food until a priest with Urim and Thummim arose.
64. 64The entire assembly totaled 42,360 people,
65. 65Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were 7,337: and there were among them 200 singing men and singing women.
66. 66Their horses were 736; their mules, 245;
67. 67Their camels, 435; their donkeys, 6,720.
68. 68Some of the family leaders, when they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, gave voluntary offerings for the house of God to set it up in its place.
69. 69They gave what they could afford to the construction fund: 61,000 drams of gold, 5,000 pounds of silver, and 100 priestly garments.
70. 70So the priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the porters, and the Nethinims lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
