  1. 1So then, my holy brothers and sisters — you who share in this heavenly calling — fix your thoughts on Christ Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest we confess.
  2. 2He was faithful to God who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all of God's house.
  3. 3But Jesus deserves far greater glory than Moses, just as the person who builds a house receives more honor than the house itself.
  4. 4Every house is built by someone, but God is the one who built everything.
  5. 5Moses was indeed faithful as a servant in all of God's house, as a testimony to the things that would be spoken later.
  6. 6But Christ is faithful as a Son over God's house. And we are his house — if we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope we celebrate, all the way to the end.
  7. 7That's why the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,
  8. 8Do not harden your hearts as during the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness,
  9. 9where your fathers tested me, tried me, and saw my works for forty years.
  10. 10That is why I was grieved with that generation and said, 'They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.'
  11. 11So I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest.'
  12. 12Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you has an evil heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God.
  13. 13Instead, encourage each other every day—while it is still called 'today'—so that none of you becomes hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
  14. 14We are made partakers of Christ if we hold our initial confidence firm until the end.
  15. 15As it says: "Today, if you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts the way they did during the rebellion."
  16. 16For some, when they had heard, did rebel; however, not all who came out of Egypt by Moses.
  17. 17But with whom was He grieved for forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
  18. 18And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not believe?
  19. 19So we see that they couldn't enter because of their unbelief.
