1. 1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
2. 2"Tell the people of Israel: I am the LORD your God.
3. 3Don't live the way the Egyptians did when you were among them, and don't adopt the practices of the Canaanites in the land where I'm taking you. You must not follow their customs.
4. 4You must obey my laws and carefully follow my commands. I am the LORD your God.
5. 5Keep my statutes and my laws. The person who obeys them will find life through them. I am the LORD.
6. 6No one may have sexual relations with a close relative. I am the LORD.
7. 7You must not sleep with your mother. She is your mother — you must not have sexual relations with her.
8. 8You must not sleep with your father's wife. That would dishonor your father.
9. 9You must not uncover the nakedness of your sister, whether she is your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born at home or born elsewhere.
10. 10You must not uncover the nakedness of your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, for their nakedness is your own.
11. 11You must not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father's wife if she was fathered by your father. She is your sister.
12. 12You must not have sexual relations with your father's sister. She is your father's close relative.
13. 13You must not have sexual relations with your mother's sister. She is your mother's close relative.
14. 14You must not dishonor your father's brother by sleeping with his wife. She is your aunt.
15. 15You must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife — you must not sleep with her.
16. 16You must not have sexual relations with your brother's wife. That would dishonor your brother.
17. 17You must not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. And you must not sleep with her granddaughter — whether her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter. They are her close relatives. This is wickedness.
18. 18You must not marry your wife's sister as a rival wife and sleep with her while your wife is still alive.
19. 19You must not have sexual relations with a woman during her monthly period of uncleanness.
20. 20You must not sleep with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her.
21. 21You must never sacrifice any of your children in the fire to Molech. Don't profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.
22. 22You must not sleep with a man as one sleeps with a woman. That is an abomination.
23. 23You must not have sexual relations with any animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not offer herself to an animal to mate with it. That is confusion.
24. 24Don't defile yourselves with any of these practices, because the nations I am driving out ahead of you defiled themselves with all of them.
25. 25The land itself became defiled, so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.
26. 26But you must keep my statutes and my laws. Neither native-born Israelites nor foreigners living among you may commit any of these abominations.
27. 27(The people who lived in the land before you practiced all these abominations, and the land became defiled.)
28. 28If you defile the land, it will vomit you out just as it vomited out the nations that came before you.
29. 29For whoever commits any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them, shall be cut off from among their people.
30. 30Therefore, you must keep my ordinance, so that you do not commit any one of these abominable customs that were committed before you, and so that you do not defile yourselves in them. I am the LORD your God.
