- 1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
- 2"Tell the entire community of Israel: You must be holy, because I, the LORD your God, am holy.
- 3"Each of you must fear your mother and father, and you must keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
- 4"Don't turn to idols, and don't make metal gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.
- 5When you offer a peace offering to the LORD, you must offer it voluntarily.
- 6It must be eaten on the same day you offer it, or the next day. If any of it is still left on the 3rd day, burn it completely.
- 7If it is eaten on the third day, it is abominable and will not be accepted.
- 8Anyone who eats it will bear the guilt of their sin, because they have treated something holy to the LORD as common. That soul must be cut off from their people.
- 9"When you harvest your fields, don't cut all the way to the edges, and don't go back to pick up what you missed.
- 10Don't strip your vineyard bare or pick up the fallen grapes. Leave them for the poor and for foreigners. I am the LORD your God.
- 11"Don't steal. Don't lie. Don't deceive each other.
- 12"Don't swear falsely by my name — that dishonors the name of your God. I am the LORD.
- 13"Don't cheat your neighbor or rob them. If you hire a worker, don't hold their wages overnight — pay them before morning.
- 14"Don't curse a deaf person, and don't put an obstacle in front of a blind person. Fear your God. I am the LORD.
- 15"Don't pervert justice. Don't show favoritism to the poor, and don't give special treatment to the powerful. Judge your neighbor fairly.
- 16"Don't go around spreading slander among your people. Don't do anything that endangers your neighbor's life. I am the LORD.
- 17You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely rebuke your neighbor and not suffer sin upon him.
- 18"Don't take revenge, and don't hold a grudge against your own people. Instead, love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
- 19Keep my statutes. Do not allow your cattle to breed with a different kind. Do not sow your field with mixed seed. Do not wear a garment made from a mixture of linen and wool.
- 20If anyone has sexual relations with a woman who is a female slave, betrothed to a husband, and not at all redeemed or given her freedom, she will be scourged. They will not be put to death because she was not free.
- 21The man must bring a ram as a trespass offering to the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
- 22The priest will make atonement for him before the LORD with the ram of the trespass offering, and the sin he committed will be forgiven.
- 23When you enter the land and plant all kinds of trees for food, consider the fruit as uncircumcised for the first three years. Do not eat any of it.
- 24In the 4th year, all its fruit will be set apart as holy — an offering of praise to the LORD.
- 25Then in the 5th year, you may eat its fruit. This way the trees will produce even more for you. I am the LORD your God.
- 26"Don't eat any meat with the blood still in it. Don't practice any kind of sorcery or divination.
- 27"Don't cut the hair at the sides of your head, and don't trim the edges of your beard.
- 28"Don't cut your bodies as part of mourning for the dead, and don't put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.

- 32"Stand up in the presence of the elderly and show respect for the aged. Fear your God. I am the LORD.
- 33"When a foreigner lives among you in your land, don't mistreat them.
- 34Treat the foreigner living among you the same as someone born in your own country. Love them as yourself, because you were once foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
- 35"Don't use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight, or quantity.
- 36Use honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt.
- 37"Obey all my statutes and all my laws, and follow them. I am the LORD."
