  1. 1Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.
  2. 2The standard you use to judge others is the standard that will be used on you. However you measure out to others will be measured back to you.
  3. 3Why do you notice the tiny speck in your brother's eye but ignore the wooden beam in your own?
  4. 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me get that speck out of your eye,' when there's a beam sticking out of yours?
  5. 5You hypocrite! Pull the beam out of your own eye first. Then you'll be able to see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
  6. 6Don't give what is holy to dogs, and don't throw your pearls in front of pigs. They'll just trample them underfoot, then turn around and tear you to pieces.
  7. 7"Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you.
  8. 8Because everyone who asks receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
  9. 9Or which one of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
  10. 10If he asks for a fish, would you give him a snake?
  11. 11If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
  12. 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this is the law and the prophets.
  13. 13Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
  14. 14For the gate is narrow, and the way is constricted, which leads to life, and few find it.
  15. 15Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are ravening wolves.
  16. 16You'll recognize them by what they produce. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
  17. 17Every good tree produces good fruit, but a corrupt tree produces bad fruit.
  18. 18A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, and a corrupt tree cannot produce good fruit.
  19. 19Every tree that doesn't produce good fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire.
  20. 20So you'll recognize them by what they produce.
  21. 21Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven — only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven.
  22. 22On that day, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we cast out demons in your name? Didn't we perform many miracles in your name?'
  23. 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who practice evil.'
  24. 24So then, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock.
  25. 25The rain poured down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, but it didn't fall because it was founded on a rock.
  26. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
  27. 27The rain came down, the floods rose, and the winds blew and struck that house; and it fell, and its fall was great.
  28. 28When Jesus finished saying all this, the crowds were amazed at his teaching,
  29. 29For he taught them as one with authority, unlike the scribes.
